Just become availaible in my area, I don't get it does it run off VDSL? I live 11,000ft from the CO at last check so I'm guessing it would be pretty lousy?

well i looked into it a bit, its basically fiber optic to the local node and then some kind of high speed DSL line to the home (~24mbps). I'm thinking about signing up, how is the TV quality?

The major attraction to me is the 1mbs uplink for internet. I'm already paying about $98/mo for comcast analog cable and a 6,000/384 cable internet.

tv quality is good. HD is about 95% of OTA quality. the dvr, programming guide, and everything else is worth it. i recommend it

The loop length limit for for u-verse is under 2500 feet. When they put a new box in near where you live, your loop length will get much shorter.
