It's your nic, windows is looking for an ip address. If you do a search, this topic has been discussed a lot.

L vis is most likely correct. If you set your nic's IP address to one of the "non-routable" IP addresses specifically set aside for internal networks, it should boot up pretty quickly. An example is:

192.168.0.1

This, of course, assumes that you haven't been assigned an IP address for the card for ADSL, for example.

If its not your nix, its your soundblaster stuff you have loading up. type msconfig at start>run>msconfig and then take out all the un-nessessary crap that loads up. Especially if you see "load power profile" twice... take one instance out.

Hey Pylorns.

I see that "load power profile" twice all the time when I run msconfig on different computers... Just wondering what that is and what causes it to be written more than once in the start up files??

Thanks
