I've seen a couple of these for sale in my area. I'm assuming the S is for the "sport series", as in the S4.

Does anybody have any performance stats on them? How fast? Is it sport tuned? Turbo? Ect.

I can't seem to find any info on them on the 'net. All I can find is stuff on the present day S6 over in Europe.

The S6 is quite a nice and rare vehicle. As you say, it's the "sports" version of the A6. Turbo 5 cylinder, usually 5 speed tranny, Quattro all-wheel drive, leather, and bose stereo are generally how the cars were delivered here to the states--if you can find one that's straight and not abused get it.

The motor in stock form made 227hp, with the 5 speed probably made 6-7 second 0-60 time. There are quite a number of performance enhancing mods available for this engine. A friend of mine has a 1993 S4 (basically the same as the 1995+ S6, same body, same engine, etc..) that pumps out 310hp with the aid of a chip (manufactured by APR, cost about $700, adds 1 bar of boost from the turbo--good for about 40hp), exaust, shifter and other goodies that I can't remember. His car is fast.

oh, that's nothing yet:)

one of my good friends has:
a 60's land rover w/ the frame rusted through in 2 places (he stopped working on it 2 years ago, but can't get rid of it)
a '00 integra type R (wife's daily driver)
a miata outfitted for full racing
a miata tuned for performance (fun!) and a daily driver
just bought a 96 integra gsr for a steal, but it has no interior....
a 79 triumph tr6 almost fully restored
a 50's austin healy that he is fully restoring

its fun to go over there to say the least:)

Skoorb, not right now. I've just seen a couple of these cars and was intrigued as to what they had under the hood.

You know they actually still make an S6 in Germany. I believe it uses a version of the 4.2L V8 that is found in the A6 4.2 and the A8 in America. Not sure what the power output is compared to the American A6 4.2...might be the same considering lots of the German and other European Audi's are using the different variations of the VW/Audi TDI (Turbo Direct Induction Diesel) engine. I actually wouldn't mine an A4 with a 2.5L V6-TDI myself. Fuel efficient and fast:) Unfortunetly they only seam to ship cars with the 1.9L TDI in the US and you have to go all the way down to the VW Jetta/Bug to find it.
