Particularly This one? The Honda EU1000i...

Just curious about some general things.. How often do you use it? Does it start easily? Even after sitting for a while?

I'm not really interested in the generators themselves, but they use this engine.. and I'm buying one for a project.

Thanks anyone.. ;)

How often do you use it?
Once a week.

Does it start easily?
Very easily.

Even after sitting for a while?

As long as you drain the gas out of it before storage.

Very,Very quiet :)

I've run the crap out of a EX600 portable generator for nearly 10 years and except for a carb cleaning and oil changes and a few spark plugs the thing's been trouble free. I hear the EX series had better motors then the EU series which are lighter. My EX weighs about 55 lbs and the equiv.EU weighs about half that. So they did something to the motor? EX may have been cast iron. Although I hear the EU3000 is heavy like the old EX series and may be a good generator. Have had good luck with Yahama generators as well...

They may use a different engine. A lot of Honda's generators just use their regular like of GX engines, some use different special ones.

I don't think Yamaha makes 4 cycle engines, at least not small utility ones.. lol

I have one for out the track (charging the car, electric tools, etc.).

I only get out there once every few months and it pretty much starts first pull.

I used it at home once or twice, and it's pretty quite, can't even hear it at the track over the sound of the car(s). :D

Not sure the model name, but it's about 2 years old.

Honda small engines are very reliable. When I was in 4th grade, my Dad bought us a gocart that uses a 5.5hp honda engine. The guy at the dealership said something about it should start on the first pull for 5 years.

That go cart went 9 years starting on the first pull. For probably the last 4-5, I'd use it about twice a year, for a week at a time. After 10 years, it didn't really want to start on the first pull, but I suspect it probably needs an oil change and fresh gas. I should probably wrap it up for storage so my kids can use it when they arrive :)

Yeah, they are very reliable. That's why I got it. :) It has a 2-year warranty, which is pretty good for a small engine.

When we rented a houseboat up in Canada this summer for fishing it used a Honda generator to charge batteries. I don't know the specific model. It didn't really draw any of my attention, which I think in this case is a good thing.
