So, they put a nifty little hyperlink in my storage meter box today that caught my eye.........(Something like "2gb storage, that's hot)........I pretty much knew what it was as I'd been avoiding the upgrade for a while. So, I clicked on it.

Played w/ the Live "classic" for a bit, but not sure I like it or not.

As was the Yahoo Mail upgrade, this hotmail upgrade still can't touch Gmail. But I still need a hotmail account.

Right now, I'm stuck at Live Classic, but can switch back down to MSN Hotmail or go up to the Full Live.

Opinions??? (Oh ya, and poll......of course) ;)

I logged in a few days ago and noticed I was forcefully switched and that for some reason all my old emails are gone! Anybody know how I can get them back? If I'm gonna lose my old emails, I'm probably gonna dump my Hotmail account.

I voted old school Hotmail, mainly because I'm used to it. I don't really need the functionality of the new versions, with their new-fangled right click stuff.

Live in classic form.

I used the Live full form in beta and realized it was slower than regular MSN hotmail. I also noticed that if you attempted to select a bunch of messages by selecting their checkboxes quickly (say, deleting a bunch of useless spam messages in a row), you may miss one of the checkboxes and click outside the checkbox square. In Live full form, clicking right outside that checkbox causes the email to open. When you go back, none of the checkboxes are selected anymore and you have to start all over again. I backed out of beta due to that alone and complained about it, but in my latest look, this problem still exists.

The "old-school" MSN hotmail was decent enough, but I found it had a problem deleting messages. I would be in the email, click on Delete and nothing would happen. When I click Delete again, it jumps to my oldest email message instead of the next message in the queue.

Live in classic form has none of these issues. I still prefer gmail though.

I have used Outlook as my hotmail interface for years and love it (when it was still a free option). I didn't even realize that they were changing the web interface, since I don't log into the web interface much.

So how do I switch back to regular, old-fashion Hotmail? All I see is either live full, or live classic.

NM, found it.

One of the biggest things I think that everybody loses to Gmail on is...........REAL ESTATE!!!!

Gmail is just soooooo CLEAN!! I think it's so much less confusing to me 'cuz I've got none of the CRAP that the others (hotmail, yahoo) do. Plus, less compartmentalizing (which you think might make things less organized) yet still easier GUI..........(again, I think because of the clean real estate). And I don't know why HOtmail can't do it too.

As if MS needs more advertising $$$ than Google???

Lastly, one of the things I noticed when I sent myself a test e-mail (using Hotmail Live) was that my e-mail included an advertisement for some "maps" site. I might switch back to see if the advertisement is still there so I'll reserve judgment on that part just yet, but I kinda' smirked at that.

Same here. The old stuff loads faster too on my stone age computer.

I've been on Live mail ever since the beta started. Even though the full version of Live mail is better than it's previous versions, it has problems rendering text on Firefox. So I stick with Live classic.

Regardless, Gmail > * when it comes to webmail.

Doh!!

One more thing I found that I don't like...........

Since I usually keep an eye on the market during the day, I used to like being able to click right to "money" on the top of the old MSN Hotmail page. (the "money" link was at the top of your page no matter WHERE you were within Hotmail). But in this Live Classic.......................BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTT!!!

the new interface sucks, how can I get it back the way it was before (mainly the tan background rather than the blinding white)
