Convention that dell puts on every year in Austin. Like VMworld in San Francisco or Citrix.

Getting aqainted with the latest and greatest compellent San is not a bad thing. Plus it's 3 days out of the office.

We use a 1st ish gen compellent(before they integrated the company into Dell fully) and a newer compellent at work. It's great stuff. I quite enjoy using that storage array. Also copilot support is amazing. The storage array is also dirt cheap in comparison to other rip off vendors.

Why would you want to. I wouldn't even if they were to pay me and pay travel costs etc.

I hate sales/marketing BS, I just can't bare to even see it/watch it.

They would have to pay me A LOT.

And what exactly is there that's "latest and greatest" when it comes to dell?

I wouldn't even consider going to Apple or Microsoft crap....these are simply pathetic events.

Nothing screams excitement like a Dell convention.

"Meet the new Inspiron. It's our blackest and boxiest desktop yet. You'll love the new keyboard. It's 10% less crappy than the previous Inspiron."

I remember when they sold Compellent out of the back of a van. That company got its startup after the head of Xiotech screwed over the engineers that designed the Magnitude....they went across the street and started Compellent.

Dell picked them up because EMC wouldn't budge on commission and Dell was selling pretty big numbers for them.

I like block-level storage...it's very dynamic. I just wish I had more money for SSD. :( Storage tiers need more than SAS and SATA.

Fun opening night, the food from rhe food trucks was amazing, free food, free beer, free wine, free mixed drinks along with live performances by Weezer and Duran Duran.

Tomorrow it's workshops and hands on labs.

Sounds fun. Usually you can pickup lots of good tips during these type of events especially at the Enterprise level. It also helps to meet other people that are in the same industry. We switched from EMC to Compellent a couple of years ago run both a SC40 and SC8000 Storage arrays. They work great.
