One of my friends who goes to St. Johns just called me and said he was in a classroom hiding because three guys are walking around with rifles. He said hasn't heard any gunshots yet, but the whole school is on lockdown and they've been told to hide somewhere. He sounded pretty terrified and said that everybody else in the classroom is pretty scared.

Anybody have a clue what is going on? There isn't much news about yet, except saying they caught one of the guys and are looking for the other two.

Public Safety Advisory

A male with a rifle in a bag was apprehended on St. John?s Queens campus today. Public Safety officers quickly disarmed the suspect and have turned him over to NYPD. Additional information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.

I like how the OP's friend thought it's a good idea to call his buddy during a potential massacre. Great way to tie up phone lines for some gossip.

I am completely serious. What could be gained from calling your friends during this situation? To have him notify the police? Trust me, they already know. To give him his last wishes? I think a family member or lawyer would be more appropriate. To say "Yo what's up dude? Gues what? There's a dude outside with a gat!" Yeah, real important.

Ahh, yet another trophy to add to the ATOT resume. Rich, dating models, and cool as a cat in all situations.

The better question is, why not call his friend?

*Republican conservative attacking dirty liberal mode*

But but but... School campuses are gun-free zones. He shouldn't be there!

Back to topic at hand, I hope nobody gets hurt. If the suspects were planning on going around shooting, hope they get shot and killed by police. Better if someone else went home and back back with their legal firearm to do the deed.

He was scared and wanted someone to talk to.
He was bored. They were in lockdown for a long time.
He wanted to let people know he was ok.
