i got a mATX 466 celery with just two hard drives that's been running as a pseudo server of my mp3s and movies and is just always on. its being powered by some old cheapy 150watt PS.

how much do you think that thing runs in electricty costs over a period of a month - considering the monitor is always off?

5 10 or 15 dollars?

I've got 4 computers that are on 24/7 here at home. Can't say I've noticed any difference in my bill. The air conditioner is the main thing I worry about power-wise.

Computers don't really consume that much tricklicity. Just be sure to use a KVM and not run 50 monitors. That's where it gets expensive...also, laser printers are known for running up high electric bills.

My computers suck power like crazy. The computer I use the most uses 390W(p4 3.07, Radeon 9700, 1 IBM 60GXP). That and my other 3 computers+monitors that I don't even use 24/7 make my power bill go up $10 per month:frown: I think its mostly the monitors though. I would switch to LCD's but they aren't good for gaming.

that's not bad at all boi considering what you are running.
i bet my bill is about $5 a month extra from computers then. Athlon XP 1800 and an Athlon 1.33 and of course my old 300A rig.

With 7 computers running 24-7 and normal living usage my electric bill is around $100 per month.

A 150W PS will use at MOST .15kwh/h so multiply that by 24 to get 3.6kwh per day, now look at your power bill and compute how much you pay per Kwh, multiply by 3.6kwh for your maximum daily cost.

Only if you have a very old 80's era laser printer, or one of those modern fancy color lasers. All lasers, even the low end ones, within the past few years will trickle down into power savings mode seconds after the last paper outputs. Then another 10 minutes or so it will drop into sleep mode that uses no more than a few watts.

I live in CA where electricity is not that cheap anymore and I still don't notice the difference with 2-3 computers on 24/7.
