Anybody ever use alarms made for deaf people?

I don't like loud alarms. I'm used to my mom just nudging me awake as a child. It doesn't take too much to wake me up anyway. Plus I share a room now (in college. with a roommate of similar age) so it's probably more convenient if I can wake up with minimal noise.

Anybody have any experience?

*edit* before I shoot myself from having to deal with more drunkard posts
*edit2* I currently use a phone but it's too inconvenient for me. Read down for why.

I need a fvcking crazy good alarm, like a wiffle bat on a motorized arm that whacks me if I don't get ouf of bed. That'd be sweet.

Music works for me, if its some morning talk radio B.S. or the buzzer I'll sleep through it all day long, some rock music on the other hand and I wake up feeling good.

Oh, to answer your question, I'd think that would work very well, growing up my Dad was the only to always wake me up usually and he'd come in to my room and yell "GET UP!!" and turn on all my lights, I half the time would fall out of my bed he'd scare me so bad, but every once in a while he'd go out of town for work and my Mom would have to wake me up, I loved it and even asked if she'd wake me up from then on, she would just softly tap me and say in a soft and caring voice "wake up , its time to get up". So with a long winded answer, I'd say a soft gentle vibration would work very well.

:p

Great idea, but with a roomie and all, probably not going to be the best solution for you.

TWO POSTS UP.

Yeah, thanks for the update. :disgust: I was just checking the website make sure I got the link right.

I really apologize for not referring back to the thread to see if someone had already posted that in the whole fvcking 2 minutes that elapsed between our posts.

I shall do my best not to make the same mistake in the future.

Nope. But I found using the vibrate function on my phone and placing it on a wooden nightstand works great.
Much better at waking me up than a loud ringtone.

I hate my alarm clock. The sound I fear most is my alarm clock. Now it's summer I don't have to use it but the one thing I hate most about school is I have to wake up to a fvcking alarm clock. A buzzing one would be nice.

That's what I've been doing actually. But phone is inconvenient since I have some OCD issues (I end up putting the phone in a sandwich bag (one hand touches bag, one phone) so I don't touch it while waking up.

I bought one of those alarm clocks because my dad was complaining that he couldn't hear his alarm clock (he won't admit he's going deaf). He tried it out for a few days and gave it back to me because he didn't like the way the vibrating pad scared him when it went off in the mornings.

Well I decided to try it out myself and it works really well. Aside from it scaring the crap out of you in the morning for the first few days it's pretty darn good. My only gripe about it is the audible alarm part can be heard ever so slightly when you set it to Alarm or Alarm + Vibrate and have the volume turned up high.

This one has some kind of flashing light that doubles as a phone ringing notification (if you set it up) but it's pretty useless because I don't even see it when i'm sleeping.

I got my Beltone Wake N Shake alarm clock from costco cost me 40 bucks but it's worth it if you have a hard time getting up. I would link you but costco's site is down.
