it seems like to me this thread is going no where. i see it that there is no fool-proof way to defend yourself from a killer. all you can do is make the right decisions to decrease your chance of dying. i agree not getting into the situation in the first place is the best, but unfortunately one cannot always do that. there probably isnt a way to completely protect yourself, with a gun or with technique, but there are obviously ways that work better in different situations.

hmmm...lets make a compromise.

The best way to defend yourself from a killer is to get a black belt in karate, a bayonet, and shoot your "enemy" while running away?

Well it happened to me one time. The guy was drunk, came at me with a knife in a parking lot of a truck-stop. It happened quickly, so I didn't have much time to react. First-off he thought I was someone else, so I was almost an innocent victim. I couldn't run...he was too close. I had just got out of a friend's car...passenger side. I was unarmed....no knife, no gun.

Well when he was right on me I grabbed his arm, twisted his wrist till he dropped the knife, and kept twisting till he hit the ground. I picked up his knife and cursed him out....after listening to his story, finding out he was drunk and I was the wrong person, and that he was a pathetic POS, I turned to get back in my friend's car. Now the POS wants his knife back. Ha! I walked over to the fence by the highway and threw it across three lanes into the median.

I learned a few lessons here....My friend had stayed in the car the whole time this was going on. Said he got scared and didn't know what to do. I never did anything with this guy ever again...some friend.
From that time forward I am almost always armed....I am not going to face anyone ever again who wants to kill me, who wants to rob me, without self-protection in the form of a knife or gun. There are too many sad stories, sad statistics out there. If I go down, it's going to be with a fighting chance.

And to you wimps who are against guns....how would you have reacted? I was big enough to defend myself against an armed attacker. What if I had been a little guy? What if I had been too old or too slow? You want to die like this? I don't.

Yah I almost died of boredom from listening to your pointless dribble.... :D

Well that's good. I post a little story about almost getting knifed, other stories about getting shot at, purposefully getting run off the road, one guy gets stabbed in the back, plus other assults.....and you make jokes about it. Must be Moonie's brother.....

Here's my story:

About two years ago, my girlfriend and I just got out of a movie and were walking down the parking aisles to my car. We're on the side of the aisle and this silver Lexus that's thumping as hard as possible comes up right behind us and honks. I turn around and nod that I'll move to the side some more, but there wasn't much more space. One of the guys gets out of the car and starts yelling at me calling me a satan-worshipping lovely human (I had a NIN shirt on
rolleye.gif
). I tell him to cool down and that I moved out of his way, no problems but he gets out anyway and my girlfriend and I are just walking to my car. He and the driver are yelling and cussing me while I'm trying to just tell him to chill and let me get in my car and leave....I didn't want to fight and I made that clear...my girlfriend was telling them to back down and not try to fight, but they just wouldn't listen. By this time I'm at my car and my girlfriend is on the other side, and they both are out of the car coming toward me. One guy takes off his shirt and I knew there'd be some sh!t going down and I knew I didn't have a chance up against two thugs that possibly had guns or knives. I jump in my car (1990 Buick Century...a fvcking tank) and tell my girl to get in, but she runs toward the theater instead to get help. Well I lock my doors and put it in reverse, one of the guys kicks my car door and I just plow into the Lexus. I hit it HARD and bashed their trunk/rear passenger door in and shattered the window. I put it in drive and get the hell out while they jump back in and literally chase me through the theater parking lot...

At this point I was no longer scared, but exhilerated...my adrenaline was pumping and I was weaving in and out of the parking aisles trying to lose them and get the hell away. I finally weave through enough cars and aisles to lose them (this is a big parking lot and it is like 9 at night) and then pull up to the front of the theater and my girl jumps in the car...we drive off and I told her what happened.

Well, anyway nothing ever happened after that and I never saw them again. No police or anything. I was scared, but I was able to keep my cool to get the hell out and do some damage to some assholes at the same time. I was extremely calm and trying to avoid conflict, but that sh!t pushed me too far and I used the only means possible to get out of there.

I wish I had a photo of the damage on their car and the look on their faces when I did that. Oh, and the only damage my Buick suffered was a small crack in the bumper and a few smears of silver paint :D

I think I'm extremely lucky that I was near my car and far enough away from them to get in before they bashed my head in. Some people just look for a fight any way they can, and they got it...and they lost. People need to learn to be a little more considerate for fvck's sake.

Nice story, and glad you made it. :) Sometimes people will do anything looking for trouble. Remember when that one punk dude tried to hijack the van full of Judo students. hahahahahahahahahhaa How funny was that. Trust me if you ever look for a fight and someone says to you look I dont want to fight, that is a good indication they can handle themself. There are just definitely too many wacks out there today carrying guns. People should really just be careful, cuz sometimes shooting off at the mouth can mean the end of your life. Some of my freinds that I USED to hang out with got their house shot out. Its not a good idea to go running your mouth a lot, because there are a lot of people out there who just dont care today. I try and tell my brother the same thing because he has a short temper. I see the same with some people in the forums. Im not trying to say anyone is a bad person, but sometimes its better to just let things go. Theres no reason to purposely try and show someone up or tell them they are wrong or whatever. Believe me, Ive seen people pull guns, and knives. Jehovah is correct when he says that sometimes its a lot better to suck it up and run or walk away. Sure, so one guy thinks your soft. Who cares. Others can live their life however they wish, but I'm just saying be careful.

Glad you guys liked the story...it was scary, but fun at the same time LOL. Definately an experience to share.

Don't get me wrong though, I believe in self-defense. I'll get a concealed weapons license when I'm 21 just to be safe, but the only time I ever plan to pull it out is when I have no other options. I'd rather run than have to shoot anyone. Weapons are last resorts and should be used as such...It is just plain stupid to just pull it out every time you feel threatened. You'll definately be killed if you do that type of crap.

I'm not about to stop living my life and give into fear. And I'm not going to walk blindly about pretending nothing bad will happen, because it does...frequently. And I certainly cannot understand why you object to some people being prepared to fight back when threatened. It looks like you wouldn't......but many of us don't share those fatalistic views.

Tell you what, since you are so confident about your safety, come to St Louis and take a late night stroll down MLKing drive (used to be called Easton avenue). See what happens.....
Just curious what you carry and how? I'm from Illinois and visit STL often. I was to the understanding that missouri was as strict with weapons as illinois is.......

Yeah Missouri is strict. My life is worth whatever risk there is. I usually carry a Baretta .25. How I carry it depends on the weather, and what I'm wearing. It's small enough to conceal almost anywhere. Belt holster covered by a jacket is the usual way. Sometimes a boot holster....I've got a number of options.

Look...a .25 is a small bullet and probably won't stop a big guy on drugs...unless you get in a good shot. I've never had to pull the thing...hope it stays that way. I stay out of the bad neighborhoods, never push my luck.

Here's one I don't tell often:

Went to Cancun with a live in girlfriend about 8 years ago, I'd just about gotten over having 7 ribs & my left arn & my left lung collapsed in a MF of a motorcycle accident & could actually walk more than 100 feet without begging for pain medicine...

Anyway, the relationship was falling apart & she'd been drinking a lot (& she was bipolar & supposed to be on some serious medications to control the mood swings) She'd hung all over a couple of guys in front of me & I was pissed about it, and we got into a verbal argument...

Next thing I know she's kicking my ass-I wrestled her down & made her stop (not exactly easy cuz she'd already punched me in the ribs (remember the broken ribs?) enough to make me want to pass out & I had no strength in the healing Lt arm.

I retire to the living room/kitchenette of the apt & crash on the couch, thinking I might be safe from the crazy woman, just drift off to sleep & she sneaks out of the room & starts pounding on me again. I got away & slept in the hotel lobby till the plane ride back to the states in the morning & promptly made her move out when we got back.

I wasn't so worried that she'd kill me (it was a possibility though, I was worried about another episode of a punctured lung again after she re-broke my ribs), I was more worried that she'd jump off the balcony & I'd end up in a Mexican prison for the rest of my life for murder...

I got the biggest laughs out of these quotes:

Now the POS wants his knife back. Ha! I walked over to the fence by the highway and threw it across three lanes into the median

You Bastard!! I want my knife back!!

.My friend had stayed in the car the whole time this was going on. Said he got scared and didn't know what to do. I never did anything with this guy ever again...some friend.

Dude....where you been? is thts why you have been avoiding me? I miss us playin in the hot tub together

People are crazy over meat. What's up with that. After I had him in the choker he starts unzipping his pants, like "Here's the sausage back! I don't want it! Let me go!"... lol

But I have to agree, the girlie's are crazy over my meat! ;)

You bastard! You flattened my tire with that knife!

Seriously, though. I had an grilfriend st@b me when I was in the middle of breaking up with her. Rule #18 about break-ups: never do it in the kitchen. Too many sharp objects! She had her back to me and then she whipped around and tried to st@b me in the midsection. As a reflex, I moved my hand out to block. the knife point went into the meat of my palm and exited out just at the wrist.

I filed a restraining order and the cops thought I was joking. Until the serving officer saw her go nuts at the order. He called and appologized for laughing at me.
