Prob wrong forum, but yep :) Played it ages ago, scripted it with Crosstalk, half of the fun of that game for me was making your own scripts. Full party script of course!

Fond memories there though - once drug a bunch of spiders and other nasties into the tower east of town, knowing an opponent we were fighting with was soon coming to level. I hid at the entrance, and after he walked in ran the simple script to continually shut the door if it opened. Of course he went in, I closed the door, the spiders and other nasties attacked him, and there was nothing but "You hear movement to the west" repeated over and over for a good minute while he ran up and down trying to escape, and the door opening and closing as he tried to get out - my script shutting it everytime - until he finally died. Walked in and looted his meager items and cash, and had a good laugh.

I stopped playing after the first couple of modules, went back a year or so ago and fired it up for old times sake - fun game. :) Kids now though, yikes! They'd look at an all text-based game and scratch their head... and wonder how we ever did it :)

I remember summoning players to moving elevators, an acid swamp and casting darkness on the room so they did not know what was happening until we or the elements killed them. Yeah it was brutally fun.

Oh god, I could go on for days about all the insane PvP matches that have gone on over the years.

I still have all my scripts and PvP caps. Nobody has written a script in a long time though, ever since the dedicated terminal programs like Synterm, MMterm and MegaMUD came out.

Back in the day, I used Telemate and Telix to script.

Nice. :)

There used to be a couple thousand people playing the game as of a couple of years ago, but it's down to around 500-600 now.

It's basically been dying for the last 10 years, ever since the collapse of the BBS in the late 90s.

I used to play Mortal Realms alot. telnet://game.mortalrealms.com:4321
My client program of choice was tintin++ and oh did I ever have alot of scripts. My favorite was one that would automatically follow someone and attack them again after they fled from me in combat. Another helped me create a massive army of elementals to take down super mobs. Then there were mundane ones for writing scrolls, auto-recasting buffs, ect. Fun times :)

Man, I started playing that game back when I had a 5400 baud modem. I remember getting a 14.4K and I was a god. I haven't played in years though.

I still remember the poison bug that let you jack your stats up to godlike and having to right my own scripts from scratch.

BTW, modems went 300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 14400 ;)

Yup, I remember that was the first time my server beat (iffy on the term) vortex that was part of a recent update. We (all of the high level players) were getting owned before that bug.

I also remember people broadcasting "drops to the ground!!!" to hang people that ran shitty scripts.

And thanks for the correction, been a long time since I even thought of bandwidth in terms of baud.

lol I remember doing that when someone would try to launch an obvious script on my char. it'd be pwnage within a few seconds.

I was mudding heavily in 1993 during gaps between classes at UF.

If I wasn't married at the time I'd probably be doing someone...thing else.

I remember WAY back in the day when their was a bug where 1 player could pickup tons of coins making their weight negative so they couldn't move, but then they could join a party and then would eventually follow the leader of the party all of the way back to the bank. So in one of the first versions where the map was pretty small you could go raid the caves and collect tons of coins!

scripted it using raymud. Think I maxxed out with a level 42 dark-elf ninja. It was fun but a lot of time wasted. That and Tele-Arena were my timewasters back in high school.

EDIT: These 2 games were the biggest reason I never got into UO, EQ, WoW or any other online graphic RPG's.

I played on a nitemare mud.

I think that's where most of us geeks learned our typing skills.

I started on a local board when it was still in beta (thinking 1991 or 92?) Called Adept, Switched to another called TLC. There were a few other locals. I played on net ones for a while, I honestly dont remember the names. I moved on to hacked boards for a few years once metro purchased it since they have just let the game die. My RL best friend still plays on some net board lol...Ive got all the stuff to run a board, but not legally lol. I ran one for a little over a year back in the early 2000's

Played religiously for 2-3 years in High School.

Had a ranger (witchwood spear FTW!), then switched over to a mystic when they were uber overpowered (soloed the Black Dragon).

One day I forgot that I only had 1 ressurection left and I died and my character was lost, so I stopped playing. Even so, that game gave me many, many memories, midnight PVP battles in the town square, a pvp back and forth with this druid who I finally killed and he quit the game. My first adult she dragon kill, champion of blood, etc.

Even though it was just text, all of these places seemed so alive - like the house in the slums, the ancient crypts to get your weapon at level 10, elderwood? (the one with the arch druid in the center), the blue tower with all of the sweet weapons. I remember going to the adult she dragon's lair was a two hour trek cause killing all of those dragons took forever back before mod 1. You were seriously freaking out that you were in her LAIR killing all these badass dragons... man those were the days.

I used a script made for procomm plus to level, cause there was no way someone could play 60 million experience to level from one to the next.
