Anybody ever have a phone with handset to handset paging?

I'm looking for a couple of phones for my parents... only need 2, maybe 3 phones maxed... but i need the ability to page one another like you do with a Nortel/Meridian phone system. Do these phones, like this Panasonic, does what i'm looking for? The phone says it has 'multi-handset voice paging', but i'm wondering if that'll work for what i need, especially in a single line system. For example, my mom might be downstairs, and want to tell my dad to come down and help her... can she just use the phone, hit a key, say 'come help me with this jar', and that's it?

I have a Vtech system, it beeps the phone you're paging, you press the button & talk to the person who paged you.

I use it to adjust the stupid satellite dish...

my girlfriend has a phone with handset to handset "paging". But all it does is make the other handset ring in a different tone. It doesn't act as an intercom.

sounds like you need an intercom.

Of the phones I've used with paging, you press the page button, and the other phone beeps until someone answers. It's not like an intercom system which you are looking for.

Edit: Here it is AT&T 2255

Edit2: Yes, you can use it as an intercom.

Can you talk to the other person if you page them and they pick it up at least? If they do, that certainly will work too... it would be best if it was like an intercom and she could shout at my dad as if she was working at Walmart, but it doesn't need to be.

That looks good... how's the quality of voice calls and range?

Don't *any* phones do this if they are hooked into the same phone line and you call your own home with them?

i can't say that it's really great, but i haven't found anything wrong with it so far (~5 months). some people complained about how sometimes the voice sounded 'tinny' from the other side, but i didn't find that problem.

about range, i can only say that i don't have the way to stretch it to the fullest because we only live in a (although quite large) two bedroom apartment.

do some research first of people's reviews on it, there are a bunch of them i found when i googled it (not all of them are good, fyi). at that time i bought it because of this crazy deal from Staples with a whole crap of coupons and rebates so i only had to pay $15 out of pocket, so i just thought i'd take the chance.

I just paid $60 for it on ebay, nowhere near your deal, but cheap enough for me to give it a shot. I hope it works decently.

I don't think my GF's phone lets you talk between handsets, but like some others have said, they make some that work that way too. I think a Walmart-style paging system would rock though.

I have a Seimens phone that'll do handset-to-handset paging, as well as remote monitoring.

It uses a single base station, with up to 8(?) satellite handsets.

Good range and voice quality.

Why not get any phone with handset to handset paging, regardless of wether or not it has intercom capabilities... because once it beeps.. if you both people pick up the phone, they'll be able to hear each other... sure you'll have the dialtone in the back, but it'd work.
