Anybody elses college screwed them out of a Veterans Holiday?

Yeah mines decided to move the holiday and observe it on the Friday after Thanksgiving. How thoughtful and efficient of them. If they didn't move it, then I wouldn't have to worry about having a test today.

We don't either. I didn't get off in high school either, or at work today. Doesn't even seem like anyone cares.

Very true but not when you have a test :p

In the past when a holiday comes up on a non-weekend, monday, or friday, they tend to move it to the following monday/friday, whichever comes first. I think it's bogus that this year they moved it to the friday after thanksgiving, which we normally get off anyways.

College isn't a holiday when you go to school full-time and work full-time. It actually sucks quite a lot. :(

I got off today in HighSchool, but we have school tomorrow. :\ My sister in middle school didn't get off however.

I get to work most holidays. I'll be working xmas and new years (and the eve). I'm working today. I'm lucky I got thanksgiving off because my grandparents will be in town.

I was talking to some teachers at the checkout line in a store and I guess UCs get this day off but one of the local schools doesn't.

Speaking as a veteran and as someone who is tired of any institution recognizing holidays, a big whoping WAAAAAA to you and the others that aren't using these holidays as they are intended.

The reason people are given time off for things like Memorial Day, Veterans Day etc.. is to participate in recognizing people that have served in the military and to recognize loved ones that have passed. They aren't vacations to keep from having to take a test and other things. If you want to push the issue with your employer or your school then attend these functions instead of just staying at home playing your PS2 or sleepting in and geting up in time to watch Springer.

The lack of respect for others in this country disgusts me.
