As far is I know, you only rent the music. IE, once your subscription runs out, the music is deactivated on your computer. Unless you you burn it to CD, then your good I guess.

Theres a reason why iTunes accounts for 75% of all music downloads when it was still exclusive to less then 5% of computer users.
 
Actually, the music isn't stored on your PC... It's streamed. Unless you choose to burn it to CD @ $.79 per song.

The quantity of songs that they have is very impressive.
 
I've been using EMusic and love it. However they sold to another Company who is changing the subscription terms on Nov. 8. Now 9.99/mo = unlimited mp3 downloads, the new fee schedule is not so generous.
