There has been over 300 reports of hate crimes against Arabs and those who looks like Arabs from Tuesday through Thursday of last week. Needless to say these people who committed these crimes are sick and I view them as no different than the terrorists who flew into the WTC.

And then there are people who repeatedly wish we bomb Afghan and blow it all to smitherines by making stupid comments like "let's turn Afghan into the world biggest parking lot." These people are still committing hate crimes because the problem ISN'T with Afghanistan but with the terrorists. Your comments are still hateful, although to a lesser extent as the direct hateful crime action taken by some people in this country.

So please stop being ignorant. The problem is with terrorists, not with any nationality in particular. And if you say it's just a joke, is this really a time to joke about race? You are just breeding more hate for those who don't realize you're joking.

I'm actually starting to get tired of the entire situation surrounding 9/11 all together.

<<i'm still in disbelief about 9/11/01 i doubt i am the only one. >>

Yes it also took me awhile to accept it. I woke up on 9/12 and turned on the TV hoping that it was all a dream. People over here in California are getting on with their life and it forces you to do so too.

If we go to war our lives are gonna be radically different, especially if it's the long drawn out war Bush seems to be hinting at.

goddamn ignorant rednecks, and junvenile, immature kids. I'm all for taking out the Taliban. If that requires bombing the hell out of Afghanistan, so be it. But leave the Sikhs, the Indians, the Pakistanis, The Egyptians, Persians, living in this country alone, they're here, just like everyone else, and probably just as broken up over it. My mom and sis are both Hispanic, but my mom has been mistaken for Middle Eastern on more than one occasion.

late.

Hoeboy, you're an idiot. Do you not understand that if countries like Afghanistan did not harbor these barbarians that they couldn't exist? Do you not understand that Afghanistan as a nation is as responsible as Bin Laden himself? Get a clue.

geez, why don't u get a clue. do u know if most afghanistans (as a nation) even want osama in their country? if so, why are all the ones (who are rich enough which are sadly not many) trying to flee thier own country. try being a bit more less ignorant when making statements like these. trying reading up on the whole situation and then u won't look so much like the "idiot" u claim hoeboy to be.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Turn on the TV, radio, browse the internet and everything's about 9/11. Not all the world's America.

The Taliban harbored bin Laden. The majority of Afghans are poor, innocent civilians. They don't even like the Talibans, who are made up of fundamentalists from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and other various Middle East countries. These people tried to overthrow their own governments and turning their states into fundamentalist states. They failed, so they fled to Afghanistan to take over a country in chaos, without a strong government. To destroy your enemy you must try to understand it, not overcome by your hate.

Weezergirl, you're an idiot as well. Please read my statement again.

I did not say that the people of Afghanistan needed to be exterminated. I said that the country of Afghanistan was harboring the world's most dangerous terrorist and therefore, they bear the responsibility.

But I think what she was saying is that the people of Afghanistan had no say in Bin Laden's being there or not.

ok when u say country or nation. i would think it would include its people.

but anyways, i think the reason people are getting tired of the above remark is because we are after osama, his network, and the people who are harboring him which so happens to be the taliban. not afganistan. for example, after we bomb the part of afganistan in which these monsters exist we would stop right? or would we keep bombing the rest of the country because "as a nation" they are responsible too?

am i correct?? i don't realy see why u had to call him an idiot, as well as me, for thinking this.

Let's put this into perspective here. Afghanistan ISN'T harboring the Taliban and bin Laden. 99% of Afghans HATE the Taliban and bin Laden. So just because the Taliban decides to harbor bin Laden, it DOES NOT represent the majority. According to your reasoning, our nation is responsible for harboring rapists, murderers, child molestors, and etc. THUS the majority (law abiding, tax paying citizens) should pay for their wrong doings. Before you start calling names, check yourself.

We can use the help of various Afghan fighters who are enemies to the Talibans. Since we are not familiar with the landscape or the language. Making ally with these groups will reduce US casualties, provide needed intelligence, and in the end finding bin Laden.

Yes, the Northern Alliance has already pledged 15,000 troops to aide the U.S. These are the TRUE Afghans. But of course according to Fastball's idea, we might as well bomb them too since they are all responsible as a country. <sarcasm>

YES. So much so, I stopped posting in OT for the last 6 days.

During the actual crisis, this and (especially) other forums have turned out to be a huge sea of misinformation, unrestrained emotion and even hatred.

I much preferred to watch the news (although I occasionally read what was posted here without comment).
