Every informal poll I saw had Clay winning by a sizeable margin. I, personally, didn't care for either of them, but I thought Clay would make the most interesting pop idol whereas Ruben is just gonna cut a bunch of protypical slow R&B songs about making up or getting busy.
The cynical part of me figured it didn't matter who people voted for. Last year a white female won. Logic tells you that if another white person wins the competition, the black audience and a large chunk of the white audience will abandon the show as biased towards whites. Are you telling me you think the producers are more concerned with the integrity of the vote or with profits? I don't think so.
Then we hear how the difference was 1,300 votes. Out of 25 million! That's .000052% of the total vote. That's 1/20,000th of one percent separating the two. Unbelievable. Too unbelievable, in fact.
I'm not saying the outcome should have been any different, cause I hate pop music in general and could care less which of the two I won't be listening to this next year. I only got involved cause my wife watches the show and it's on before 24 which sucked this year in comparison to last year too btw. I'm just wondering if anybody believes the ultimate results are predecided by the producers to maximize the perceived credibility of the show and assure profitability for years to come.
I guess the ultimate questions is, how much reality is really in these reality shows anyway? It's likely that the producers don't quite trust reality alone to generate an audience.
