Anybody Else Playing Sorcerer King?

I guess this must be the fourth game in Stardock's "Elemental" series, but it plays a little differently than the last one (Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes) to me. Sorcerer King is a much more focused game with really one main victory condition (defeat the Sorcerer King). The gameplay is still a mix of 4X and RPG styles with a good dose of humor thrown in.

I haven't had a ton of time to play as my office was out of commission for about a month, but I have played two games to completion and I am really enjoying it so far. I like the fact that this is a much more focused game that isn't as much about city spam / build huge army / slog it out to the end. There is still plenty of fighting, but I played an entire game without being at war with any of the other factions, just the Sorcerer King himself. That is sort of a refreshing change from the typical 4X game where I tend to get bogged down in the late-middle stages.

Anyhow, haven't seen this one mentioned yet so I thought I'd throw it out there.

I enjoyed them, I have not tried the latest but have been tempted. While i have not tested the settings, its fairly easy early game, but does ramp up late game which is nice, to many 4X game are to brutal right away. I also don't feel like I made a bunch of bad decisions 60 turns later that can be fixed as much as most other 4X games seem to do.
Overall i feel its more Streamlined, some may simple, I wouldn't agree, but I can say at default settings its not as hard as most 4X games. I prefer this series to almost all others for this reason.

I have wondered about replayability as well. I see this game as something I will probably pick up and play periodically rather than dropping a ton of continuous time on it. It seems like the developers are quite actively supporting the game which is nice. Just taking a month off and coming back the game had quite of few balance issues addressed as well as new content.

I also agree that this game might be a little more forgiving than most 4X games. I tried a game at a higher difficulty level and lost, so there is still a challenge to be found. At the same time at "normal" difficulty the game might be a little too easy, but I have a feeling AI improvements might change that in the future.

A dev said 'it was intended to be fantasy FTL, not a 4x game'. It's $18 on a 4 hour flash sale on greenmangaming right now.
