I have 4 RT7s , the CS-275 center channel and an RSP 910 Eosone Subwoofer all driven by a Technics SA-DX1040.

I am constantly amazed by the performance of these speakers. I have had a lot more expensive equipment in the past but this setup just seem to suit me for all around music and home theater, especially 5.1 dvd. Purists may scoff but dollar for dollar, hard to beat.

Any thoughts?

I think Polk makes good speakers. I don't have much experience with them, but a friend uses them and his setup sounds pretty good, from what little I've heard.

I think you're right that cost does not always equal performance. Personally, I use Boston Acoustics speakers, and I think they perform way better than some of the more costly speakers I have heard.
However, I wouldn't trade in my M&K sub for anything... and it was damned expensive! :)

I tend to agree. I have a sony STR-845 (cheap by some standards) and Infinity Interlude IL40's main and Acoustic Research AR2C center and Acoustic Research Edge for the surrounds and this system kicks major a$$! And its all due to the speakers, NOT the source as the sony receiver is definately not close to highend.

I've heard polk's are a bit overpriced, but that one wicked system they had a little while back (9 6.5inchers, 1 titanium dome tweet, twin 10inch subs in a downfiring bandpass) was awesome :D

My one friend has a 5 speaker setup of mirage speakers, now those are amazing...really, really expensive though.
