I'm on my third Nokia 3360 phone in the last year.

The first one went on the fritz after about 6 months and would not stay on (it would power on then immediately power off after anywhere between 2 seconds and 5 minutes, and it wasn't the battery). AT&T has a warranty exchange program that they do with Nokia, so I sent it in and they sent me a "new" refurbed phone. It was especially annoying that the old phone wouldn't stay on so I couldn't get to my stored numbers, plus I had to reprogram them all manually into the new phone.

A few months later, the second one develops a problem where it says "no service" for like 12 hours at a time, no matter what you do. I call AT&T again, the tech is an idiot but finally he realizes this is in their KB as a known issue so I end up with another refurbed phone. I haven't had problems with that one yet.

My girlfriend and another friend of mine have both had to exchange their phones once (same model) because of the "no service" issue.

I'm just worried the phone will break again. The warranty expires later this month but I'm still under contract for another year. :frown:

Anybody else having these problems?

In my experience Nokia phones don't hold up very well to abuse. The last nokia phone I had went crazy after if fell from my desk once. It worked, but the screen was all garbled. Eventually it just died. I'm pretty surprised how well my Samsung phone has held up after numerous drops.

I had an 8290 that was pretty bulletproof. I will recommend phone insurance though. I got the batter replaced 2 twice b/c of a 3rd party manuf. charger, and the body of the phone replaced because of random flickering. I abused the hell out of that phone for 2 year, literally bounced it off the concrete multiple times. I have a 6590i for the last couple of weeks. I like it.

I haven't abused mine at all, they've just kind of stopped working for no apparent reason. I do leave my phone on pretty much all the time but that's not unusual, is it?

I have nothing but praise for my Nokia cell phones.

My original 6190 did have 3 annoying build quality issues:
1) Known problems with the LCD.
2) The rubbery keypad buttons sometimes stick.
3) Battery and cell phone aren't always locked together perfectly, so I'll be talking, battery will slide 1cm and BAM my phone turns off.

After using 6190's (3 of them) I switched to the 3360 and haven't had any problems (yet).

what was your screen problem, mine would flicker intermittently. I got the whole body replaced when the picture wouldn't come back, unless I pressed really hard in the corner of the LCD. It was replaced free of charge with Cingular phone service.

My ol' 5125 has withstood being dropped several times in the 2 years I've had it, no problems.

My first Nokia 6160 refurb had display issues. I'd have to squeeze the phone to be able to see the display. Eventually that one had very low bars of service. I took it to the store, where the owner put another 6160 right next to mine, and it showed 5 bars of service where mine showed 1. I replaced it.

Shortly after, I bought a Nokia 7160, and it was excellent. THe keyboard cover was a little noisy, but it always worked well.

I have had to 51xx series phones. Both have been subject to their fair share of dropping and general abuse and have never given me any trouble.
