I've gotten those and I don't own a vehicle. I assume they're phishing for info. You can google the phone number, it's likely others have already reported getting similar calls.

Yep. Us as well. Not all from the same phone number, nor from the same alleged area code. As soon as you ask them questions about the company, or why they called you, they hang up, and the number doesn't ring back through if you try to call them back.
Fucking spammers/scammers should DIAF!

Yes, I made the mistake of asking Warrenty Direct what my wife's car would cost (03 CRV). Now we get e-mails and calls evenings and weekends. I don't remember giving them my home phone #.

i never pick up non-local calls. 3 times went to voicemail with same car warranty machine message.

is there a way to make my cell phone not accept long distance calls at all? does this cost me money to check my voicemail? nextel btw.

I've been getting a ton of these calls on my cell. I figured it was actually the dealship calling, but I just ignored them anyway. Glad to know it's just a scam.

I suspect car dealers sell your phone number to spammers. I get them all the time at home.

There are posts about this in cell phone specific forums.

Most cell phone providers have options in your service to opt out of markting calls from their company.
These calls are not covered by the DNC list and must be opted out of directly with your provider.

Yes, get em all the time. I Googled it back when I first started getting them and it said they were being investigated by the FCC or someone or another. Apparently they haven't been successful in shutting these assholes down because I've been getting these calls for months.

EDIT:
Next time they call write down the number and report it here: Link

I suppose that would work, if these were marketing calls from a cell phone company.

Obviously this is some company/scammers out there who got ahold of a bunch of phone numbers and are just trying to get ahold of credit card numbers. The fact that they call and it shows from different area codes and phone numbers means that they're messing with the phone system, nothing you can do to stop it until law enforcement gets involved and catches whoever is doing it.
