Anybody else getting the dreaded Unmountable_Boot_Volume error (Windows XP)?

I have gotten this error more than a couple of times on systems I've built. It can be fixed by booting from the Windows XP CD and doing the repair option, but it takes forever and a day for it to fix it, especially on a big harddrive. I have checked out Microsoft's explanation here but none of this seems to apply to me. For one, this problem is not occurring during an upgrade to the Windows XP operating system. It is occurring on fully functional Windows XP systems that have just had a new piece of hardware or software installed. The install seems to go fine, but upon rebooting, I get the error. Once I repair the error, the system works fine again including the newly installed hardware/software. In one case, I simply installed the two extra USB ports that came with my 8KHA+ motherboard and rebooted and got the Unmountable_Boot_Volume error (100GB hard drive in this machine took forever to run chkdsk). I have NEVER experienced anything like this with previous Windows operating systems. So far, this is the single biggest flaw in Windows XP that I have found.

Others that have had this problem, please comment. I would like to know that I am not alone with this problem...
 
This error message has variables that you should post here as well...can you please post the exact word-for-word, character-for-character message other than the Unmountable_blah_blah text? Like the hex numbers and any other descriptors...tks.
