I am sick and tired of our politicians and their BS. Republican leadership is full of sh1t, and I can't bring myself to vote for them again. Democratic leadership is virtually non-existant, spineless bunch of whiney babies who do not have the balls to stand up for what they believe.
I am sitting out this election. We'll see what 2008 looks like.
The best way to show the Repubocrats you're tired of their BS is to vote, but vote third party. If you stay home, they win, because it is in their interest to have an apathetic electorate. Only by voting against them -- them meaning both Republicans and Democrats -- can you demonstrate your disgust. That's what I've been doing fairly regularly for years.
That said, for the first time in my life, I think I'm going to vote straight Democrat. (I thought I would in 2004, but I decided a couple of the Republicans were actually decent people who hadn't yet sold out to special interests.) In my view, while American politics as a whole is sick, the current Republican machine is a dangerous malignancy that must be cured first, before we can focus on our other ills. A vote for the Democrats is much like politcal chemotherapy: you don't want to do it long term, but it's necessary to stop the immediate threat to our well-being. Once the malignancy is gone, we can focus on more general issues.
That's me. YMMV. If you simply can't stomach the Dems, then vote for third-party candidates. Either way, vote.
