Anybody bought the MSI GeForce 6800 GT (NX6800GTT2D256E) Recently?

Zipzoomfly has generously offered to let me RMA my brand new ASUS Extreme GeForce 6800 GTs because instead of having the ASUS fan, heatsink and board, ASUS is apparently currently shipping cards that are simply the stock Nvidia 6800GT reference design (at a premium of almost $80 per card).

I'm going to try to replace the ASUS cards with a pair of MSI GeForce 6800 GTs (SKU: NX6800GTT2D256E). I want the MSI cards because they are supposedly much quieter than the Nvidia reference design and that's important when you are running two cards at the same time. Here is how the cards are supposed to look. The problem is, when I see the graphic for the cards at, for example, New Egg, once again, it looks like they are the Nvidia reference design rather than the MSI proprietary design.

What's going on? Has every manufacturer arbitrarily decided to abandon their own GeForce 6800 GT designs and revert to the Nvidia reference? That's a big mistake IMHO because the Nvidia reference (besides being the awful Nvidia lime green) has a really loud fan, a flaw that some card manufacturers have sought to address with their own proprietary heatsink solutions.

Anyway, has anybody bought an MSI NX6800GTT2D256E recently? (That's the PCI express version) And if you got the actual MSI version of the card, please let me know where you got it.

Thanks.

damn, a buddy I work with just ordered one of these off "the egg" (MSI) Ill check with him and see what he got...ill let ya know!

How about this? Does anybody know where I can find either a MSI NX6800GTT2D256E (MSI proprietary version) or ASUS EN6800GT2DT256 (ASUS proprietary version)?:cookie:
