Several days ago, there was a thread in Hot Deals, re: Retail XP2500 Barton for $96. Quite a few folks got in on this deal.

I got mine today, BUT I'm in the process of moving. Tomorrow, is "moving day." My rigs are already setup (for the most part..not pretty, but "functioning") in the new place, but I won't have time to install/beat on the Barton until next week.

I'm just curious as to what stepping/week you guys got and the results. How many MHz are you getting? FSB and multi? Voltage? Temps? :D

Please be specific.

I'm just DROOLING and waiting until I have the opportunity to beat on this thing. I'm not sure what all the codes mean anymore; I think it's a 2003/ week 15, which means it was manufactured Mid-April...right? Help me out, please.

Complete code on my XP2500 Barton:

Mine is the same week as yours. I have it running at 11x200 for 2.2ghz at 1.7 vcore. All other voltages are default. Temps are 35C idle and 41C under load. It has been an extremely easy overclock thus far and rock stable. I have no doubt it will do 2.3ghz, but I just haven't really had the time to push it.

I agree with Shady and also feel that the later weeks make better overclockers. Combine that with all of the Nforce2 rev. 2.0 boards that are out now and people are getting great results.

And you are correct about the date. Good luck with it.

Newegg has the edge again. Got mine from Googlegear after ordering it last weekend. It turns out to be a week 11. Hope it's not true that week 13+ is the sweet spot.

Wow, 2300MHz with 1.63V! You've got a very special chip there.

Hey guys. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this thread; I've been moving for the past three days...today, I moved 90% of my sh1t. 1,000 SF, 2-bedroom apt; and there's NO WHERE to walk b/c everythingj's still in boxes! :Disgust.

I still have a few days of unpacking to do. Had to get the washer/dryer hooked up so I could wash my sheets...they fell out of the truck. :|

Anyway, getting OT! :p

VERY encouraging results! Everyone seems to have very different steppings, though. It's encouraging that I got a latter-made one as you guys are getting good results with the latter ones.

DAPUNISHER; you're at stock voltage? Dayum! :Q That's AWESOME man!

I can't wait to see what mine will do...first I have to FIND the damn thing...it's buried somewhere. I hate this crap. It'll be great once it's all unpacked, though.

Is the barton worht getting over my 2100+ tbred. Im stable at 2300mhz with it but at 1.92 voltage. Would there be a significant change in speed with a barton at 2300? Will these things get up there?

let me know

thanks

Moving is the  I was contemplating buying a larger home with rates being so low and then the memories of my last move flashed back and I ceased all consideration of the notion ;)

Here's where mine maxed out using 200fsb :camera: Reminds me of my P4 in that once you hit the max stable on default it's not long till no reasonable voltage does any good. Could not boot to windows@2.5ghz on 1.85v with F@H running as a service. I'm back at 2.3ghz beacuse the extra voltage and heat aren't worth a 100mhz, the temp went up 9c :Q

In another thread, I did some math with AnandTech benchmark results and found that the extra cache of the Barton core gives an average of a 5% performance increase over a Thoroughbred of equal clock speed.

1.92V is a little to high IMO though

What's up, Brudda? :D Thanks for the sympathy vote; moving is indeed Satan's Official Past Time. I woke up this morning and didn't want to open my eyes b/c I remembered where I was a and what it looked like! :Q

My XP2100 is the same way, once you pass 2.160MHz; once you hit that speed, you can throw all the voltage you want it it and it's not going to be stable at all. But 2.100GHz is the sweet spot. That's where I'm at right now.

So, 2.300GHz is the sweet spot, huh? I'd be VERY happy with that.

So, 1.600V is the default voltage on a Barton, right? I'm not too worried; I am running the latest BIOS on my 8RDA+. The 5/7/03 one.

That is correct, the default voltage for my Barton 2500+ is 1.65, but CPUz shows 1.664

Thanks guys. Same voltage as the TBred B steps. My AX7 will handle it fine. Well, back to unpacking/moving stuff from old place to new place. You never know how much crap you have until you move. :Q
