Just saw him Saturday night @ the House of Blues here in New Orleans with Hooverphonic.

Hooverphonic was nice and chill, I had a few drinks at the bar while they played.

BT was just plain amazing. He had all his mixers, etc on 2 huge springs, and he would jump back and forth from one to the other, and they would bounce back and forth. His set was damn good, but I wish he had played more of the older stuff from ESCM and ima. The newer stuff was pretty good though, sounded good with the live band. The bassist did her best to imitate Tori Amos for Blue Skies. He closed with Satellite, which is my favorite track from Movement in Still Life.

The show was sponsored by Jensen (blech), and they handed out all this free crap on the way out...lots of useless CD's and a pretty cool BT poster.

The best part about the show though was that it was an 18+ show, so my friends and I didn't have to put up with all the little punk raver kids. The house was definitely packed though.

I suggest to anyone who's even a casual fan to check him out if the tour comes your way...tickets are pretty reasonable, too...around $20 after all the Tickmaster bullshite. :)

I can't wait for BT's concert in LA! The one in LA is 21+, and around 25bux.

If you like Dreaming, you definitely will like Running Down the Way Up and Blue Skies. Might as well check out Godspeed, Satellite, Shame, Never Gonna Come Back Down, Movement in Still Life, Smartbomb, Mercury Solace, Flaming June, Love Peace and Grease, Nectar, etc etc.

I think he is great. I have seen him twice now. The first show was better than the last one I went too because at the second one he did not have the band with him. The first time I saw him was right after the release of ESCM so I heard a lot of the old stuff.

BT=Brian Transeau, one of my favorite electronic artists...kinda "dreamtrance" style originally, but now more commercialized. Here's his site.

The older BT stuff is kinda similar to Robert Miles...who I also really like...but the newer stuff is much more uptempo. I still like the new stuff, but it's a real departure from his original style.

I also never heard of him, until this thread came up. I guess I am out of the loop on this one, I must be getting old I guess.

"I'm A Believer" is probably one of BT's best works, as well as Mercury Solace. IMO his new CD Movement in Still LIfe is very mediocre. He got to experimental with it. I also don't like Brian Transeau (BT) as a person since he's an arrogant bastard who thinks he so different and aloof from the rest of the artists out there. But he is an amazing and extremely well rounded musician with lots of money to spend of solid equipment.

Werk: He is definitely fun to watch live. Almost as enjoyable as watching Chemical Brothers or Daft Punk. You can tell he know's his synths/effects/boxes/mixers quite well going back and forth. But that is also somewhat of a show. All his samples/effects/leads/basslines are already loaded and ready to go at the flick of button/turn of a knob. He spends most of his time messing with the EQ's and monitoring sync's, not actually making the music in front of you as he makes it appear.

well I'm off to catch Moby and Hybrid at a local joint. Moby is always a pleasure. Very uplifting high spirited dude with a level head. He's def at the forefront of mixing todays rock/alternative to the future of techno/trance/dance.

Hey! My thread's back from the dead!

Yeah, PwAg...there's a limit to just how much music can actually be "made" at a show like that...I understand. I also agree that Movement in Still Life is not his best, but I still like it for what it is. I hope his next album is more like his old stuff, more trancey.

Enjoy Moby! I've only had the pleasure of seeing him once, here in New Orleans, last year to the day tomorrow at VoodooFest. He was amazing! He played about a 2 hour set, which is alot for a festival show. I could've caught him when I was in NY this summer for one of his 2 shows, but I didn't want to pay a scalper, and I had tons of other stuff to do.

I've heard Hybrid is cool too, I've gotta check em out.
:)

He had that video with DJ Rap, didn't he? She's HOT! Her album, "The Learning Curve" was waaaaaaaay better than Cowdonna's "Ray of Light". Too bad more people didn't get it.
