i have the cabels and all and i wanted to run my xbox 360 on my PC in HD cuz it doesnt look that great in SD scaled to fit a 15" monitor

all i need to do this now is some program that accepts component in as a video capture type setting since most will only accept composite and Svideo

TIA

As far as I know no video cards actually accept component as an input, only output. That's very likely the reason none of the software is listing that option.

Firewire can do it with some tweaking I believe, but that's not for the average joe.

For only $4,000, you to can capture and edit from a component source.

Ya, but its a pain. Plus its not seamless with media center so you cant use it and click change channel to watch something else. also, that capture card probably doesnt work with media center either so there really is no solution. I dont understand why its so darn expensive for component in!!

Or you could get a HD tv tuner card. That would be the most obvious solution, IMO.

or you could get a Xbox360 VGA cable and run at a higher resolution than HD, like 1360x768.

 That's probably the easiest way to do it, of course you'll have to switch cables if you're using your monitor for the console and your computer, but the only other way you're getting HD output from the 360 is buying a monitor that has Component in, or one of those $1000+ capture cards.

(Though "higher resolution than HD" would normally imply something higher than 1080i/p, not just something higher than 720p.)

PC HDTV tuner cards do not have Component inputs, at least not any of the "cheap" consumer-level ones. They only receive ATSC DTV/HDTV broadcasts over the air (and sometimes, unencrypted ones over cable).
