Hey guys, first year of college and you know how it goes, there's always does moments that you want to capture, whether it'd be the random 4 am road trips to the shore or panty raids, yea... But i wanted to know if anyone knew of a camcorder that is damn affordable but also takes great stills.

Preferrebly under $100 but it can be under $150 as well.

I saw the mustek 5500 online and was suprised, if any1 has any experience with one of these and could post video clips and stills that would be hot!!!

The video abd still quality of "sub" $150 camcorder camera combo would be about equivalent to a recent cell phone with video and still capability.

You get what you pay for.

Splurge for the $1500 JVC ultra, ultra compact that records on a micro dirve.

I know you were not interested in that, I just through iti out there for the hell of it.

Seriously, you're not going to get much better than cell phone quality in a $100-150 "do it all" device.

Best bet would be to get the smallest, cheapest MiniDV camera you can afford. Look for deals on eBay or something.

Just head on over to eBay and see what's available. Just about any Mini DV camera will take decent video. Heck you can buy new Samsungs for the high 200s, so there should be a decent used camera market in the 150-200 range.

One thing about ALL Mini DV camcorders in the "consumer" range is that they don't perform all that well in low light and by low light I'm talking normal room lighting that you would have in the evening watching TV or something. What looks bright to your eye will be dark to the camcorder.

There are only two ways to alleviate this; Use more light which is not always practical, especially during you "panty raids ;) and the second unfortunately takes mucho dinero and that is high end "prosumer/low end professional" camcorders.
