any z5500 owners have hum problem with games?

i just got my 5500 couple days ago and when ever i play games (6 channel direct with eax sound)..i get low hum after couple mins...it only goes away after i quit the game...i tried everything from extending ac connector to another power in another room and i have tried moving the pod connector to the sub...nothing helps.

there is also a slight hum on the sub when the pod is on, but it is not noticeable unless i move my head close to the sub.
 
no problems here, call Logitech and they will send you a replacement pair, and you don't even have to send yours back!
 
what would they send me for replacement exactly? last time i called them about this hum issue, they told me they don't have any z5500 instock.
also, how do i prove proof of purchase?
 
sounds more like soundcard issue cause it only happens in game and stops after gaming

There's NO WAY the sub knows when you quit your game when you are playing
 
i have a audigy 2 zs and also there is onboard ac97' audio, which i disabled in the bios...however, it seems like the hum happens to the onboard too when i use that...but, i am going to try taking out the audigy and just use the onboard. see what happens then.

could it be some amp feedback? i have heard of that...i am wondering if that's related. i really don't know much about speakers.
i am thinking maybe there's more eletricty or whatever that goes through the wires and cables when there is sound playing, which might case that hum.

also, i disconnected all the speaker wires and played games, the sub still hums. so speakers or speaker wires aren't the cause i suppose
 
Are your power cords running right along the same lines as the speaker wires at some point? That could be causing interference and thus the hum.

That was my first guess. Also try another sub cable. Could be a short there.
 
solved my problem...although not quite sure how.
i suspected the videocard was virbating and somehow interfers with the sound card. i tightened it as well as the psu which were both a bit loose. the hum was mostly solved, though it still happened in battlefield. so i lowered the res from 1600x1200 to 1024x768 and since then i didn't hear a hum in any game..until today after playing 30 mins of guild wars, it started hum...i opened the case and use a different screw on the video card since the orginal one was too loose...so then i didn't hear the hum when i played guild wars again...hopefully it will stay that way....there were some other things i did but i don't believe they helped

for another minor problem, seems like some sounds don't come out high enough. for example when i play unreal 2004, my shots don't sound high enough...and the "hua!" sound my character makes when jumping is very very low. to the point where i can hardly hear it. turning up the effects up doesn't help since all effects are turned up at once...so some low sounds still stay low in relationship to others.
 
Ok, seems like your onboard sound is getting interference from the power drawn by your video card. If your video card has a 6 pin power plug have you tried plugging that in? If you can borrow a cheap soundcard somewhere, try throwing that in to see if it also solves the problem. If so then it's definitely the power draw from the video card causing it.
 
well the power cable has always been connected to the video card...it would only function that way anyway

a while ago i was able to play games with no hums after checking and tightening some loose parts inside the case..but it is happening again when i play battlefield 2...same situation as before as it hums after a while playing the game...i am feeling a little hopless

also, i have tried the onboard sound before and that also produce hums in games...though i have not tested it with bf2, i don't think it would be different...maybe my PSU isn't good enough?? it is a cheap one, although it is 500w or something like that
