Any XP drivers/software for the Sidewinder Joysticks

I want to get a force feedback joystick for BF1942: Desert Combat but I run XP.

iirc MS were not going to update the sidewinder software for xp.

Drivers are built into XP. Double-click the game controllers control panel, choose add, and add the "Microsoft Sidewinder (Auto-detect)" selection. It will auto-detect your Sidewinder model (assuming you have it plugged in, of course).

xp will correctly detect it but there's no software for customising the button functions.

I have a sidewinder precision pro. Works flawlessly with DC> Just follow bassoprofundo's directions

I have an original Sidewinder 3D pro from 1995. It works fine in XP. If you can't find your Sidewinder type listed, you can always customize one...I think..
