I've been looking and looking, but all I ever seem to find are the press releases from 3 months ago. I've been holding off buying a laptop (was planning on getting one for Febuary for the past year), but I am now holding up so I can get one with the GeForce 2 GO in it (not like I can change my video card every 6-8 months like I can with my desktop). So I really want to get the absolute best video that I can for my laptop, and with it being rated at about 4-10 times faster then everything else, I REALLY want it above that next fastest item (ATI mobility 128).

I know Toshiba had a partnership with Nvidia on this, meaning they were suppost to be the first ones out with a laptop model using it, but Toshiba has NO press releases about it other then when Nvidia first releases news on it. The rumors that I have been hearing is that someone else (Dell or Sceptre) will beat them to the market.

Anyone know anything that I don't know? When will they be available? Who will have the first? How much will they be?

Toshiba did do a press release last month and said it would be available at the end of this month. Don't get the ATI Mobility Radeon. It doesn't have the Charisma engine which means no T&L. The Mobility Radeon is basically a Radeon VE.

I don't have that link anymore. I got it from nvnews.net I believe but when I checked the link again, it is gone. I have this link though:

PC World review of the Toshiba notebook with Geforce 2 GO

Don't bother waiting for the Mobility Radeon. It doesn't include the Charisma chip which means no T&L. It is basically a crippled Radeon VE. The Geforce 2 MX spanks the Radeon VE.

Edit: Sorry typo.

Just saw this Toshiba 2805 S402 (hope the link works, if not go to www.toshiba.com=>portables=>home&office=>Satellite=>2805 S402)....Looks like they are already selling them (well not really sure, they are posted on their website, but Shop Toshiba is not selling them yet and all other links to find it are errors). Looks like they are VERY CLOSE to releasing them. Really sucks that they only offer it with 16megs of SDRAM. I though it could handle 64? Wonder if I can ask them to upgrade mine to 32 :)

The new Radeon chip will spank the Geforce Go in a number of categories. Personally in 3d performance I think the difference between the 2 chips will be very small, if Ati comes out with a 32mb version of the Radeon it will outpace the 16mb GeforceGo. T&L won't be much use because other bottlenecks(i.e. 16mb) will kick in before the T&L is of any use.

Don't forget that Ati has been at the laptop thing for quite a while they do know a thing or two about it, this is shown by the fact that they were able to design the Radeon laptop chip to cosume a lot less power than the GeforceGo.

I would wait until reviews of multiple systems with both chips come out before passing judgement. Remember this is Nvidia's first try at the laptop game.

Ha. The NVIDIA Geforce 2 MX uses about 1-4 watts of power just like the Radeon. The only thing the Radeon wins is in power consumption when running DVD movies. You must also remember that the Geforce 2 GO can support up to 32MB of memory so just cause the Toshiba didn't include more memory, it doesn't mean that another OEM won't in the future. The ATI Radeon Mobile is just to little to late.
