Any word on ATI's new IGP?

I forget the model number RS690? ATI's new IGP that was supposed to come out a few months ago... any word?

Was supposed to be an X700 variant... would be nice since I'm feeling the upgrade itch with real shallow pockets. 😉

So you know, its RS600 for the Intel version, and RS690 for the AMD version. I ahven't really heard anything about it since May 26th of last year when they said it was way down the road. I'll see what I can find and get back to you if I find anything.

I have some info. Both the RS600 and RS690 have taped out now. And the RS600 (Intel version) passed PCI-SIG specifications just recently. The RS690 has not yet I don't believe. It's also believed that the RS600 and 690 chipsets will debut at Computex 2006 in Tapei. ATI hasn't set a launch date though. It is believed they are going to wait for the SB-600 set of I/O controller chips to be released first and then do a combination release. Those haven't passed PCI-SIG inspections yet either. Hope this helps somewhat.

Third bit of information. I see the the Overclock Work Bench site has news that the RS600 (Intel version) can be expected sometime in June. No word yet on the RS690. (AMD version)

Ha! I knew it! Imagine the value of combining the RS600 and an 805 dual-core! Cheap but good! Not a screamer, but far from a slug - and fantastic value!

I'll put off my upgrade for a month. 😉

I don't understand why there isn't more excitement about it? Something WRONG with getting a $100 video card for "free"?

Not everyone has X1900 and 6800GT's y'know. 😉

Well on anandtech, there isn't ever any excitement or interest in any integrated graphics product.

Now that I think about it, I wonder how sensitive integrated graphics are to memory speed and bandwidth? It's too bad ddr2-800 is so expensive since it might be especially useful for integrated graphics.

aAAAughHH!!! I have the money and I'm burning to upgrade NOW!!!

I'd love an 805 and decent "free" video... it's that or a cheap board and 6200 AGP or something. Yeah, yeah... but it's $50 cheaper for the board than something with PCI-e16 and a full 6200 is better than any onboard video including the nforce 6150.

Yep.... budgets suck. 😉
