Any wireless mice work well directly on a glass desk?

I've been using an Icemat w/ a Logitech MX1000 for awhile now. It works great, but i would prefer to not have to use the icemat if i could get away with it.

The mx1000 does not track at all on my glass desk. The glass is about 1cm thick with a frosted bottom..

So any mice track well directly on glass?

surprisingly enough this mouse ive had for my laptop will track on CLEAR glass with nothing underneath, while every other mouse including my g5 wont. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16826104003 i wouldnt count on any mouse being able to do it with precision though, for me it works fine for internet but when you start to move around quickly it starts to get confused.

these are perfect for those who hate mouse mats but still need them. get the black one!! its much much better then the blue one. they have different textures. black is rough and lets your mouse glide much better then the shiny flat blue one that sticks to the bottom of the mouse.

They don't track well on glass because they need the reflection of the laser, which glass doesn't provide (or not enough). I'm sure the frosted bottom helps, but a pad is really necessary with glass.

Technically, it depends on the rodent's tracking system. If it is LED or Laser, glass is a non-starter because it reflects the light back with refractions that confuse the mouse. If the wireless mouse has balls, you're OK

Aphex, what is your reason for getting rid of your mousepad? Is it aesthetic or something else. The reason I ask is because I would suggest looking into the X-Trac Hammer and their other mousepads built around optical/laser based mice. These are basically paper thin mousepads since their only purpose is to provide a unique surface for the laser/optical to follow.

Anyhow, Not sure how the G7 tracks on glass, but it doesn't matter because you can't even buy it anymore from Logitech, doh.

Actually a piece of paper taped to the glass would work as well or better than any mousepad.
