My Internet Explorer freezes up from time to time and I
have to hit Ctrl Alt Del once and the Esc button two times
to get out of it and end task IE. Then the following error
message pops up every time this happens:

Any idea what this is and how to fix it? It says unknown? I have checked my running processes and nothing unusual. I tried disabling my firewall and it still did it. I tried the antivirus and it still did it. I tried disabling other stuff and I just have no clue what it is. It happens randomly when I go to a new website.
 
i'm no expert, but here are some stuff i would normally try.

1.) kill all apps and try to run IE.
2.) reinstall IE.
3.) upgrade IE.
4.) try another stick of ram
5.) reinstall OS (no format)
6.) reinstall OS (format)
7.) roll ur pc down a long flight of stairs.

i myself have never made it to step 7 😉

lol I have done 1, 2, 5, and 6

3 - I have IE 6 there is nothing newer
4 - I have 512 already, I'm not doing CAD at home 😛
7 - maybe, just maybe...

I can't believe after I did a complete reformat it still does it.
It must be one of my programs but for the life of me I can't
figure out what it is. I have shut them all down and IE still
did it rarely and randomly. I didn't like Opera's interface and
it wasn't any faster than IE 6 or I would switch to it. I guess
if it comes down to it I'll have to learn to live with Opera.
 
did you try it before you install other apps?
if you did and got same result you have bad mem or heat instability
i am an expert
 
Ok I'll order another stick from Crucial and give that a try. If it's bad RAM then it's fixed, if not I'll have 640 MB of RAM and that's ok too hehe. I'm desperate. Thanks for the help bud.
 
I would format that drive and start over with a fresh install. If you just install on top of the old OS, some of the files that are causing the problem might still be left intact.
 
I already have done a complete reformat and it still did it. So it's either one of my programs I reinstalled or the RAM that was suggested. I'm going to try the RAM now because I have tried messing about with the programs as much as humanly possible. Thanks for all the help.
 
Hey thanks for the great program! I loaded it onto a floppy and rebooted and ran the looooong test and it said no errors were present. Oh well IE hasn't acted up in a couple of days now so we'll see what happens. I'll run the mem test again right afterwards if it does it again. Sweet prog, and free too!
 
Are you scrolling with a wheel when it happens? I had that problem with my AMD setup and a Geforce 2 MX card. If I had it set to 4X then I could crash I.E. with my wheel on my mouse. If I set it to 2X it stopped. I really don't think that it was the AGP setting at all that actually caused the problem though, but it worked for me to turn it down.
 
If you want to do a full test (which I think you'd want to do), you should let it run all the tests. FYI, it can take all night. Read the information on their homepage. I hope it finds something. I'm only saying that because of all those errors, and it better be the problem, ya know what I mean? 😉
