I have a Radeon Mobility 7500 16mb that's rather slow. I've seen certaing people talk of getting Radeon Mobility 7500 64MB parts and manually doing the upgrade - is this the fastest possible upgrade I could get? I can't find this particular notebook component anywhere on the web for sale.

Unless you have a notebook with a 'user upgradeable graphics module', which have only been around for a short period of time and are only on the most expensive gaming laptops, I believe the only thing you can do is switch the motherboard.

It may be possible, don't know for sure but my 4 year old old 8000 model graphic board can be upgraded. Be sure to read all the user warnings, for instance, some lcd panels don't like upgraded cards, and if you screw up somewhere it's also possible to kill your entire machine.

Yeah, if you're good with a soldering iron and not concerned about accidently rendering your 5100 useless.
