Every time i start windows, i get a half-dozen "new hardware found" notifications from my sound card and capture card. I have no idea why, the drivers are installed, devices are functional and there is nothing i can do. So is there a way to turn off these notifications? They're really annoying.

No you can't. And if the drivers were installed for those devices, they wouldn't pop up. So something isn't isntalled. So, to get rid of them, just click next to tell it to find new drivers. When it doesn't find anything and it says no drivers will be installed, just click finish. Windows will install dummy drivers and you'll never see it again. ;)

BTW, the devices being install won't work with dummy drivers, obviously.

Sigh i think i've done that already, but i'll try again for the hell of it. I know that NOTHING can be done about my capture card. There is some weird hardware issue that causes Windows to detect it as a device, but be unable to install any drivers for it. The card still works, but isn't listed anywhere.

Even if you install it manually (without the auto detect)?

Some hardware require you to install drivers before you plug them in, so Windows can detect them right.

What version of Windows are ya using? If it's 2K or XP, you can always turn off the PnP and Hardware detection services. (?) Not a great solution, but one that might getcha by. :)
