I've got this 711 meg dat file in my shared files of kaza (among others but this one is big) and its not in my transfers list (probably because I deleted it at some point from the transfer or something). Anyway, my question is, is there any way for me to find out what it was I was downloading just from the DAT file?

try renaming it to iso, divx, mpg, mpeg, or avi.......will that work?

also, I thought it automatically deleted those files when you cancelled the download?

more than likely, no. I have had very mild success with changing the filename to something with either a .mpg, .avi, .rm, etc. extension (it's worked about 3 out of 10 times). If it was an ISO or piece of software there is no reasonable way to see what the file was. I'd say just delete it and go on with your life.

email kazaa, or check faq or do a google search maybe. if its not a vid file i doubt file ext changing will make a difference, unless that will work with a zip file., alternatively uninstall kazaa and then reinstall it and or try and import your download list to morpheus maybe that will work.

In addition to renaming the file if it is a video file you most likely have to rebuild the index using divfix which will complicate things even further.

Try copying it first, and then opening the copy with Windows Media Player. That might work...

Kazaa DAT files also contain additional info pertaining to the download, so you generally cannot open them like regular files. If it's not important, just delete it.

I suggest you download no more pr0n than you can keep track of :)
