Any way to sync Outlook contacts and notes to Android?

I can't believe this isn't built in somewhere but I can't find anything to do this...

I have a huge database in Outlook including hundreds of contacts and dozens of notes. I want to sync these up to an Android phone.

I figured I could just sync the contacts with Gmail like I can with the Outlook Calendar, but Google doesn't seem to have a Contact Sync program. The only thing I've been able to find online is a way to export from Outlook to Gmail and then it'd end up on the phone but that's a one way thing and you'd have to do it manually every time which isn't going to happen.

Does anyone know of any software that will simply sync contacts and notes between Outlook and an Android phone? I don't care if I have to plug in a USB cable to do it but would prefer something that'd interface with Gmail somehow. But as of now, I can't find much of anything.

This is a huge deal breaker and I may not be able to get an Android phone if I can't make this work easily. :(

There are lots of options depending on how often you need it synced, wired or wireless, 1-way or 2-way, etc etc...

http://www.syncdroid.net/

You should know that Android is Exchange Activesync compatible, so if you are using Outlook with an Exchange server you can simply add the account to your phone to get realtime two-way Contacts, Calendar and Email sync. If you aren't using Exchange, you might consider Google Apps.

https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gappssync

http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/mobile.html

Those options are all for people that want to keep using Outlook. If you are ready to make the jump to Gmail as your primary contact manager, just do a 1-time export from Outlook to Gmail and add the account to your phone. Done.

Good luck!

I use gSyncit (http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/index.shtml). It's not free, but it works well. Contacts are seamlessly sync'd between Outlook and GMail, and between GMail and Android. When I first started using it, I noticed some bugs in the way it handled recurring appointments (duplicated them), but I haven't seen that issue for a while now. Note that it's also being actively developed, so improvements continue to occur. :) In my experience, "it just works".

Note that this is if you're using Outlook without Exchange.

This is just for a home, stand along version of Outlook. Not with Exchange. I saw something about gsyncit yesterday and was looking it up. It does seem to work well from what people are saying.

I'm just surprised Google doesn't have a contact sync program like they have their calendar sync program. Looks like I have a few options so time to go narrow them down.

Thanks.

Hmm, is Google Apps Sync available for people with just a home Outlook profile and a personal Gmail account? It kind of looks like it's only for people with a corporate Google Apps Mail account. Not sure if that's an option for me if that's the case.

GeekDrew, do you have any issues if you edit a contact in Outlook vs on the phone with any duplication or any problems like that? Also it looks like to view Notes from Outlook, those go into Google Docs somehow? And then I need a Google Docs program on the phone? hmmm.

I've never sync'd notes, so not sure about those. No, I haven't had any issues when I edit a contact via Outlook, GMail, or Android.
