Aside from making my monitor settings monochrome- is there *any* way to strip a website of it's colors? Like view a website which has a flashy stylesheet with colors up the wazoo and basically turn it into a white background/black font?

Maybe a firefox plugin? Maybe a way to interpret websites using your own stylesheet on the fly? I dunno... is there any way?

Yes, you can use a bookmarklet. Create a new bookmark and paste this code in the location. Then when you visit a page with unsightly colors, just click this bookmark. Works great for me in Firefox. Not tested in IE.

P.S.
Of course, you can edit the code to change the font size, font style, etc. I have another bookmarklet that strips a sight of colors and puts the text in an easier to read font.

or you may want to do this instead:
in firefox
options > content > colors > uncheck allow pages to choose their own colors
now click the background button and change the color to whatever you want, like something that isn't white and hard on the eyes.
