Any way to stop remote desktop locking my computer?

...and I can't seem to find any way to disable that feature. I know that programs like RealVNC will allow me to do this, but I wanted to be able to do it with Remote Desktop, which is available on most computers without having to download a seperate client. Is there a registry entry somewhere that I can use to disable it? I looked around on google and couldn't seem to find anything.

EDIT: sorry, maybe i didn't explain it well. i want to be able to use remote desktop, I just don't want it to lock the computer when i use it. is that possible?

Nope, RD isn't licensed for concurrent use (yes stupid, I wish this would change). MS did for a while consider allowing it to support remote displays (which have since been killed). The hack pointed to is from a beta service pack, it's not licensed for this use (it may work, but your likely to have issues with patching later)

thanks for the input folks. i may or may not try that which is suggested in the article, i can't decide if it's worth the trouble it would be. thanks for the link, Doh!.... I couldn't figure out what keywords to search.... i wouldn't have thought of "concurrent" 🙂
 
I believe Windows 2003 Server allows multiple sessions of remote desktop, and that shouldnt lock your computer
 
The main issue you will have with XP pro and remote desktop is that it doesn't allow the same user to be logged in at the same time. In fact it only allows one login at a time. However the link above at least allows you to login as a different user at the same time as another user.

Why do you not want to lock the computer when you RD in?
 
Server uses "Terminal Services" to support up to 3 concurrent logins (console + 2 remote) in default (Administration) mode. If you install TS in Application mode, then the limit is based on hardware capacity and licensing.

console-mode: like XP RDP, the remote computer takes over the screen of the physical machine.
remote-mode: The remote computer opens a "desktop" on the server, but it does not affect the console session (no screen lock).
