Any way to still use CDR coasters?

If you make a coaster as soon as it starts writing the lead in, is there anything that can still write to the CDR?
 
what you do is you go to centuryma.com order a shinai. When shinai arrives you get a friend to toss the cd at you frisbee like and smash it with the shinai as it comes close. Not only can you make use of cdr this way but you can make use of those free aol cds walmarts leave in a huge bin (best to grab 50 or so at a time).
 
^ nice answer. heres my idea, that may never get off the ground: remember the ripper from the origional unreal tournament? i think it would be awesome to make a similar device that shoots cds. got the idea from those thousands of aol cds we stole back in the day from walmart (and sears)
