Any way to see the forwarding for an email address?

is there any way to take an email address and see where it forwards to, without letting the user know? i assure you this is for legitimate purposes... a client has a mailing list, and one of the addresses is forwarding to another that is bouncing, so we need to find out which one it is.

thanks!

I think you're pretty much screwed. I was on an L-Soft Listserv list a couple years ago that was having a similar problem.. fairly active list, about 150 messages per day. As you can imagine, the admin wasn't too happy. After about a week, he sent out a message telling everyone that he was nuking the subscriber list and that we'd all have to sign up again.

ah that sucks... they should come up with a way to do that... it'd be nice to have something similar to tracert for email :)

If I understand the problem correctly, couldn't you embed a unique identifier in all the messages you send to the subscribers, and when the mail bounces, you would know which address it was?
