they also don't require a dongle. they communicate over the pciexpress bus.

no idon't think it'll work.So far only cards below and including the x1800 gto can run in dongleless crossfire. For the x1900 gt,right now u have to get the expensive master card and link it up.ut it's pointless cause the master card will cut down half it's memory to come to terms with the x1900 gt.
Later ofcourse the 2 cards will run in dongleless crossfire with some driver or hardware updates.

I think with the latest catalyst drivers you are able to do crossfire without the master card even on the high end.

It's very much physically possible, which what I meant. It just needs an appropriate driver release.

well i think with catalyst 6.6, u should be able to run the 2x x1900 gt's in crossfire without too much of trouble.(i'm not too sure about this.I read it in a review somewhere)

Well, I remember reading somewhere about this. It included benchmarks with dongleless cable on both Crossfire 1600 and 3200 motherboards and also with cable the way it's done now (with an x1900xt Xfire Edition card). The one setup with cable ran the best results, and also the Xfire 3200 was better than the Xfire 1600.
I also remember that they were using two HIS x1900 Gt IceQ 3, they looked very cool with U/v light.
I just don't seem to find where it was...
This might be- they probably removed the first article:Link
I'll keep looking.

As long as you have 6.6 or above you "should" be able to run them in Xfire. Not that I would recommend that setup to anyone, just that you can.

Why not? If you already have one, wouldn't you benefit from adding another?

I wouldn't recommend it because it has the quad disabled, and there are faster cards at that pricepoint. If you were going for any X1900, I'd recommend the X1900XT (at $329).
