I've got a nice trinitron monitor thats been with be for a few years, but seems to be scratched lightly in a few places. I'd hate to replace it, so I was wondering if anyone knows any way to remove or buff out minor scratches? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

I assume you're talking about scratches in the glass. In this case, there are many products available from auto part stores for buffing scratches out of windshields. Similar products could probably also be had from glass shops. These products will require a drill or (better yet) orbital sander/buffer and a great deal of care and effort. You might find it to be more trouble than it's worth. There might be shops you can pay to do it. Good luck!

Monitors have a non-glare and anti-static coating. The coating is added to the face via a spin coat process. The CRT is held face up and spun. A few drops of anti glare coating is applied to the center of the screen. The centrifugal force spreads the coating evenly along the surface of the screen. Odds are it is the coating that is scratched not the glass

Never use abrasive, or glass cleaner containing highly concentrated ammonia or strong base chemicals. They will damage the anti glare coating and make things worse.

Unfortunately there is no way to fix scratches short of replacing the CRT itself.

One thing you might try is applying some candle wax and buffing with a
soft clean cloth.
