Any way to region hack a set-top DVD player?

I just bought a Toshiba SD3900 and my parents want to watch some Russian DVD that apparently won't work because of region encoding. Any way to get around it?

I know the early Apex players had loophole menus in which you could disabled that and macrovision. No idea on your player though.
