Any way to reduce/eliminate cat hair?

I have two long-hair cats that seem to have an endless supply of hair to shed. I try to brush them regularly, which helps, but I need something even more drastic.

Any suggestions?

What about getting them shaved? That's what I used to do in the summer back when I had a cat. It worked really well.

A friend of mine has two cats, both are long haired. He vacuums every day. I'm allergic to cats, but when I was at his place, as long as I didn't touch them I was fine.

Another friend of mine kept part of the house sealed off just for the cats. Like a room or two, enough for them to run around, and it left enough of the house for people allergic to cats and for people who likes to eat food without cat hair in it. 🙂

Cigarette lighter works well. J/K.

If you can't deal with the hair, then cats are not the pet for you. Get an Iguana or a snake. No more hair, no more ticks and fleas, no more allergies and no more large vet and/or food bills. 🙂

I can deal with it, I just want to reduce it. I know shedding is normal, but I wouldn't think this much is normal.

Perhaps I'll take them to the vet to make sure they're not nutritionally deficient or something. I feed them Eukanuba, which is supposed to be high quality (so I'm told).

Do the cats stay still while he vacuums them or does someone have to hold them down?

try wetting your brush a bit... it will help.

Also, take the cats outside and vigorously scratch the cat against the grain....then brush!
