any way to recover formatted data?

so I formatted my laptop and completely forgot to get all my music, games, and pics off it before i did. Good news is that all i did to it was put windows xp on it afterwards. I had heard that it was possible to recover data that's been formatted as long as it hasnt been written over. So does anyone here actually know how to do it? any helps would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Morgash

john's link should work, but might have to register it (been a while) i personally use OnTrack EasyRecovery at work when clients need their data but i dont believe it has a feature for possibility of overwritten files, (but you can do raw recoverys)
