Any way to nuke index.dat files w/o addon software?

could try a batch file, something along the lines of:

del c:\xxxxx\xxxxx\index.dat

where, obviously, xxxxx is the folder path.
Type the above in notepad, Save As "c:\indexfiledelete.bat" (include the quotes) and at boot up, it should delete the index.dat.
When it boots into windows, the index.dat will reappear back to its original 32KB.

Logon in safe mode as adminstrator and delete it from the other accounts folder.
