Question Any way to mitigate crashes in Excel 365 large files?

Sometimes I need to open large datasets in Excel, like 200-300MB. Sometimes Excel takes a dump when I do this and it crashes, other times it is fine. Is there any way to test whether or not Excel can open and manipulate a large data file like this without trying to open it and see if it crashes?

My first thought would be that is a symptom of the something else going on. 32 bit or 64? Since we don't know what computer you are running that on and if this a recent event or something that has always been, stressing your hardware would be my first action to see if that is the only scenario that produces a dump.
