Any way to mark HDDs for bad sectors via USB drive?

Its an 80gb 2.5" 5400rpm drive with only 20k of bad sectors! I want to use it till it dies! (and I am hurting for space atm)

I have not been able to find any software out there that will do it via USB. Do I have to use an IDE adapter?

Thank you for your time...

Better to back stuff up and replace it before it dies and you loose everything...

Well currently its empty until I can mark those bad sectors. I'm not going to put anything critical on it though with no backup. I will mostly use it to move stuff back and forth.

Not that sure what your talking about but will this help? Sorry if it's like completely not what you want for I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Hi, Normally you can do anything to an external drive that you can do to an internal. Scandisk worked great in the past. There are many diagnostics available free at the makers sites that can also be used. Luck, Jim
