Any way to make my notebook a wireless router?

Sorry if this has been posted before...I searched and couldn't find anything useful. I'd appreciate if someone can link me or tell me if there's any way possible to turn one of my notebooks (has wireless b) into a wireless router. It's already connected to a local wired LAN network.

Thanks in advance

You could not find useful information coz it id No can Do.

:sun:

Edit: No can do with Windows.

you'd
1) have to be pretty darn good with unix.
2) have driver support for the card, NIC, and all the hardware.

if you had 1 and 2, then you'd have done it already🙂

Thanks DarkJuJu, out of curiosity I am going to try it.

Just let me make sure.

This CD will turn my $2200 Sony Vaio laptop into a $40 Access Point :shocked🙁j/k).

:sun:

P.S. I notice that the thingie was not updated for more than two years. I wonder if it will work with an 802.11g card.

I think I remember that there's a version of knoppix that does this too. Since its supported pretty well you might wanna take a look at that.

It'll also turn it into a nice pen testing device. Boot it up, set your SSID to linksys and see how many people automatically connect to you without their knowledge.

Since most G cards require binary-only firmware to control the card and a good chunk of those require the use of Windows drivers via ndiswrapper, I wouldn't get my hopes too high. Yet another reason why I love my prism2 802.11b card =)

Nothinman.

LOL. I do have few of them around 2 Linksys and 3 Netgear.

Nah, I am not going to use this as a real working thing, as indicated, I just want to try and see how it behaves.

My actual system is protect to the Max.

Thanks for the info. about the cards. I have few 802.11b and 801.11g cards and I will give it a try. I will not shed tears if my cards do not work.😉
